Grammatical Issues ofIidioms Interpretation

What, then, is an idiom? We may say that an idiomatic expression is a quantity of words which, if found in the same place, mean something special from the individual phrases of the idiomatic expression when they are placed alone. Other idiomatic expression are absolutely common and logical in their grammatical aspects and vocabulary. Because of the special features of some idiomatic expressions, we have to study the idiomatic expressions in general and we sometimes cannot amend any part of it (except maybe, only the tense of the verb).
English is very rich in idioms. In fact, it is hard to speak or write English language without using idioms. An English native speaker is very often not aware that he is using an idiom; maybe he does not even realize that an idiom which he implements is grammatically wrong. A non-native learner makes the correct use of idiomatic English one of his main aims, and the fact that some idioms are illogical or grammatically incorrect causes him difficulty. Only careful study and exact learning will help.
It is impossible to be explained why a particular idiom has developed an unusual arrangement or choice of words. The idiom has been fixed by long usage as is sometimes understood from the vocabulary.
